We hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, and are eagerly anticipating the first few days of preschool! It’s almost here. We have some great tips to share, and important information for your first few days.

We know that some of you may be a little nervous about starting nursery school but don’t worry, we will do whatever we can to help you feel at home. Most of the time a quick and confident good bye right from the very first day is the best way to communicate that school is a fun, safe place. Sometimes it helps to bring a small friend (stuffed toy, small blanket) from home to help ease the nerves of the first few days. We are happy to discuss any other options to assist in making transition into nursery school a positive experience.
First week of classes:
Our first week of classes are one hour in length to help the children adjust to coming to school for the first time or after summer break. Due to the short duration of class we will not be having snacks or going outside.
Tues/Thurs AM class – Sept 4th & 6th 9:15-10:15 am
Tues/Thurs PM class – Sept 4th & 6th 12:50–1:50 pm
M/W/F AM class – Sept 5th& 7th 9:15-10:15 am
What to bring to nursery school:
Indoor shoes (comfortable, easy on, non-marking, to be left at school in shoe cubbies)
Snack (except for first week) – peanut/nut free, one or two healthy choices and a small drink (juice, milk, water). Please remember that it is a snack to help hold the child over until their next meal.
Backpack (to carry home art/crafts completed at school)
Change of clothes (just in case! Should be kept in backpack as we do not have room to store it at school)
2 rolls of paper towel – we are asking that each child bring 2 rolls of paper towels to help with our supplies. To assist us with storage we will be assigning each class a specific time to bring in their paper towel rolls. (Later in the year, if needed, we may ask for a box of Kleenex instead of paper towels.)

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER
Please label everything with your child’s name! This includes hats, jackets, backpacks, snack bags, containers, shoes, etc.
Please enter and exit using Kidsplace doors only (do not come through Calvin Christian School as classes will be in session). Please ring the bell for assistance and another parent or teacher will open the door for you.
Please leave ALL outdoor footwear (including parents’ and siblings’) on the mat at the top of the stairs. Students may store their indoor shoes in the shoe cubbies.
Please remember that when you are dropping off or picking up your child during the day, there are classes in session at Calvin Christian School.
Teachers come out at the end of class to fill you in on the events of the day and share important information. Have a great first few days!
